My Mindful Self-Compassion Journey

I was very fortunate to have been able to stay home to raise our two children who are young adults today. In 2014, I wanted to re-enter the workforce. I was telling myself “Who would hire me?”, “I don’t know how to interview.”, and “I’ll never find a meaningful job.”  This inner dialog made the process so much harder.

My mindfulness practice helped me realize the many times I didn’t know how to do something and how I found a way.  Self-compassion cheered me on by saying “I am capable! Keep trying and I will land a meaningful job!”

I knew I wanted to work with teens. I got my first job at a high school in Northern CA, later becoming their first Wellness Center Coordinator. Today, I am sharing mindfulness and self-compassion tools with both teens and adults on Bainbridge Island, WA. The same tools that helped navigate the stressful times in my life.

I became a Mindful Self-Compassion for Teens (MSC-Teens) Trained Teacher in 2019. I helped launch the first ever MSC-Teens Live Online Teacher Training in 2022. I am also a MSC-Teens Teacher Trainer and mentor. I became a MSC Teacher Trainer in 2023. I continue to share MSC-Teens and MSC in my community and online. So, having an encouraging inner voice is so so helpful!
